My Live2D Models

Before we jump into it, here's a brief introduction to what this page holds. Live2D is a programme which can be used to create animated characters and animations using a combination of parameters and rigging. Popularised in the virtual youtuber space or VTubers, the programme can bring characters to life through tracking your body movements, facial expressions and mouse cursor!

Most of the models you'll see below were originally meant for entertainment purposes and lean heavy on the Vtubing aspect of their creation. But don't let that limit your appreciation of Live2D models! These guys can help out in all kinds of sectors from bringing a mascot to life to becoming a digital companion that follows you around on a website or in games!

The Outlier Deities

Many Vtuber groups in the corporate space on Youtube have a special theme to them, something that helps tie the group together and plays well in marketing. The below 5  models are all minor deities who have no place among the more prominent pantheons and so they watch over mortals from their own places at the edge of the Cosmos.

Fable Quinn: The Archivist

My very first vtuber model I rigged with the help of many youtube tutorials. Her name is Fable Quinn, a nod to her occupation as the archivist who notes down all mortals' stories from their birth to their death and sometimes even their afterlife. Seeing as this was the first Vtuber I ever made, there are definitely some aspects of her art and rigging I would have done differently now but I can't complain because if it weren't for Fable, I wouldn't be on this path to begin with. Perhaps she'll write a paragraph or two chronicling our time together!

Marie: The Masses' Muse

The second model I made was this darling girl and I wanted to play around with jiggle physics and experiment with the mouth expressions just a little more. I wasn't fully satisfied with the results but this experience taught me even more about rigging and I was happy with what I'd learnt! Story-wise, Marie loves interacting with humans and often inspires them to make new inventions and advancements that push our world to evolve

Akhirat: The Dead's Companion

My very first male model and my most favourite of them all! With Akhirat, I tried out a different colouring technique with his hair and eyes, but that's not all. Like with Marie, I went in with a specific goal in mind, rigging toggles or alternate poses and expressions for the model. These can be achieved in Live2D by sliding a parameter to the right or to specific keyframes. His name may sound intimidating to those of us who know its meaning but he is a kind deity with a soft spot for cats who only wishes to escort souls to the afterlife with a smile and a gentle demeanour.

Zuri: The Memory Keeper

With Zuri, there were a few goals I had in mind. Namely, rigging head angles X and Y so that the model can turn and look around and I also attempted to achieve a rather androgynous look with their design. Like Akhirat, Zuri has some toggles though noticeably less so seeing as they weren't the main focus this time around. If Marie is the reason we are ever changing, Zuri is the reason we remember the old days. They can usually be found with the older folk, reminiscing over times past and evoking a sense of nostalgia wherever they travel.

Valentine: Heaven's Matchmaker

My very first full body rigged vtuber! Meet Valentine, the very best matchmaker in the business. Her whole body moves by tracking the mouse cursor's X and Y paths just like her eyes and head. Her hair, skirt and iris' are rigged so that they give an extra little "bounce" every time she moves or blinks. Her body "turns" by turning the torso and skirt slightly while also turning her skirt. Along the Y axis, her entire torso moves upwards and downwards as necessary and her knees bend a little when going downwards.

Their Champions

Of course, deities are naught without the mortals who sing them praises. Who tell their stories and continue to worship them. These next Vtuber Models then, were designed with that idea in mind along with main goals I wanted to achieve when rigging their models

Ren: The First Scribe

Fable Quinn's first priest, Ren, is a travelling mage who takes great pains to make note of whatever story she hears from everyone he meets. And I do mean to use both pronouns as Ren is the first model I've rigged that can switch between both forms! Ren's model was inspired by a "Magical Girl" transformation tutorial I found on Youtube one day. Inspiration struck and I began work on the dear genderfluid mage. Though I must admit it was challenging at times but I never once thought of giving up on this new idea.

Mei: The Free Spirit

Marie's first priest and her right hand woman, Mei's outfit was inspired by the warm colours of a monarch butterfly. I decided to play around with her head angles a bit more and added physics to her hair so that it would react with each turn in a way that was absent with Zuri. Speaking of whom, Mei holds a mild distrust to the deity of nostalgia but she respects him nonetheless.

Gato: Death's Apprentice

Inspired by jelly and the cat Akhirat carries in his arms, Gato is the spirit of a cat who passed away in Colombia and very quickly became attached to Akhirat who in turn pledged to protect this cat with his life. Gato is quite possibly the most expressive of all the models as I wanted to try my hand at the different emotions that are usually represented by icons and symbols in comics and manga
